2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport Canadian Release Date

Today was the kick-off of the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, and we weren’t positive what Toyota was going to have in store for us, but we are quite pleased with the result. Our brand didn’t just introduce a new vehicle, it introduced three new vehicles, and we’re quite excited about all of them. But the one that is probably going to be the most exciting for all of you truck enthusiasts out there is the all-new 2018 Toyota Tundra, and more specifically its new TRD Sport trim level. With a Canadian release date slated for later this year, sometime in September to be as exact as we can at this point, we simply cannot wait for it to arrive here in Edmonton, Alberta.

“Ladies and gentlemen… I’m pleased to introduce the two newest additions to the TRD family… the 2018 Tundra and Sequoia TRD Sport. These trucks came out great! With a focus on superior on-road driving performance… our engineers at TRD worked closely with Bilstein to develop sport-tuned shocks. Next… they reduced body-roll by adding beefier TRD front and rear sway bars. And finally… they topped them off by pairing them to distinct 20” wheel and tire packages. Each TRD Sport comes with its own styling to match its enhanced performance.”

– Bill Fay, Vice President and General Manager, Toyota Group

What’s new in the 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport?

As you can tell by the quote above, the Sequoia will have a TRD model for the first time as well, which we are certainly excited about. But the Tundra TRD Sport might be the most exciting of the three new models, especially considering the entire 2018 Toyota Tundra was also refreshed for the new model year. That means whether you’re interested in a TRD Sport or not, you will have the benefit of several updates and enhancements both inside and out even in your regular 2018 Tundra. These changes include the addition of Toyota Safety Sense P, a new mesh or billet-style grille depending on trim level, DRLs and Fog Lights on certain trims and much more.

As for the 2018 Tundra TRD Sport, it will be available on the CrewMax or Double Cab configurations and will be powered by the 5.7L V8 engine option. Added features will include the following:

  • TRD Sport-tuned Bilstein Shocks
  • TRD Front and Rear Anti-Sway Bars
  • Color-keyed mirrors, bumpers and hood scoop
  • 20” Alloy Silver Sport Wheels
  • LED Headlights featuring smoked chrome bezel
  • LED Daytime Running Lights
  • LED Fog Lights
  • Mesh Grille with Body Color Surround
  • TRD Sport Bedside Graphic
