“The 4Runner has a large and loyal following, with dependability being a key factor. Of all the 4Runners purchased in the last ten years, 90 percent are still on the road. 4Runner owners often take their SUVs off the beaten path, so these new TRD Off-Road grades will be a popular recognition of TRD’s history in the off-road arena.”

2017 4Runner TRD Off-Road Specs & Features

While the Toyota 4Runner has long been a member of the Toyota Racing Development group, alongside the Tacoma and Tundra models, 2017 just introduced two brand-new TRD trim levels for the SUV a couple of weeks ago that we cannot wait for: the TRD Off-Road and line-topping TRD Off-Road Premium. Both version will receive incredible cosmetic upgrades both inside and out, while also being outfitted – as usual – with impressive off-road upgrades.

On the SUV’s exterior, black-painted wheels and, of course, a unique TRD Off-Road bade embedded on the C-pillar will set you apart from other 4Runners. Inside, you’ll be able to marvel at a TRD Shift Know, a carbon fiber-like center console and TRD Off-Road floor mats. On the Premium model, red lettering in the front headrests will also spell out TRD to give an extra air of luxury and exclusivity.

As for performance-enhancing off-road capabilities, both trims will also be equipped with a Multi-Terrain Select system, Toyota Crawl Control and an electronic-locking rear differential. You can also upgrade with a suspension package that adds the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System.

We’ll keep you posted as more information about the 2017 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road and Off-Road Premium models becomes available, including when its actual Canadian release date will be.

Now that more information has become available, we can confirm that only the 2017 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro Series are available here in Canada. The Off-Road Premium is only available in the United States.
